Truly a museum-worthy treasure, this ring will take your breath away. The ring is crafted in the classic dynastic Egyptian style with a wire running through the tabular lapis amulet and attached to a swivel hoop band. This incredible specimen has the added detail of the bands terminating on each end with a detailed Duck's head. Ducks were considered a symbol of fertility and renewal; as offerings, they were believed to bring Abundance to the Pharaoh and the people. The lovely rectangle of Lapis Lazuli is carved on both sides with Hieroglyphs: a seated Pharaoh as Horus, a falcon, a standing Sphinx, and a cartouche holding a name. The gold tests to 12k fineness.
The Modern world has a long-held fascination with Ancient Egypt. Napoleon's Egyptian Campaign in the last years of the 1700s had Europeans enamored with all things Egyptian, and soon after, they began making jewels and decorative objects using Ancient amulets and scarabs.
Details.....The lapis tablet measures .74" x .53". A collector's piece, this really shouldn't be worn as a ring. In Very Good Antique condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it part of the charm.
